Chat Plays Games is a live stream where viewers vote in chat on the choices of a video game while it is played. These terms cover taking part in the stream's votes and commands, using our Twitch extension, and using chatplaysgames.com.

Platform terms come first

The stream is broadcast on third-party platforms. When you watch or chat on YouTube you agree to the YouTube Terms of Service, and on Twitch to the Twitch Terms of Service. Our features use YouTube API Services; how Google handles information is described in the Google Privacy Policy.

Taking part

• Voting is free and open to anyone in the stream's chat. One vote per viewer per choice counts; your last vote replaces an earlier one.
• When nobody votes, the stream's software decides. Ties are broken at random. Results are final.
• The stream can pause or end votes at any time, and may ignore votes that try to disrupt the stream (for example spam or automated voting).
• Chat behaviour is governed by the platform's rules and the channel's moderators.

The Twitch extension

• The extension is free. It shows the votes and the game's state over the video, and lets you vote by clicking. A click counts as your vote under the same rules as chat.
• The stream may limit clicking to logged-in viewers or to viewers who shared their identity, and the broadcaster or moderators can change who may click at any time.
• Don't try to get around the vote rules: no scripts, bots or multiple accounts to stack votes, and no attempts to overload or break the server. Such votes may be ignored.
• It is provided as is and may be down, slow or wrong, and a click may not be counted. When a vote gets no answer, the game carries on by itself.

Information

How chat messages and the extension's clicks are read, and what is kept, is explained in the Privacy Policy. In short: votes are counted, and only the counts are kept.

The website

chatplaysgames.com shows the history of the stream's runs and information about the game. It and the Twitch extension are provided as is, without any warranty, and may change or be unavailable at any time. The game's names and art belong to their owners (Slay the Spire 2 is by Mega Crit) and are shown for information. This project is not affiliated with or endorsed by them or by Twitch.

Liability

The stream is a free entertainment project. To the extent the law allows, the operator is not liable for any loss arising from watching, chatting, using the extension or using the website.
